Jackson is a medium-sized city located along I-40 between Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee.  It is the largest city in the 731 area code and second largest city in West Tennessee after Memphis, and the seventh-largest city in Tennessee after Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, and Murfreesboro.  It is a major hub for medical care, dining, and shopping throughout the 731 area code in West Tennessee.  It used to be a major railroad hub, which is actually where it got its nickname "the hub city", although not as much anymore.
